Definition

The Alberta government defines inclusion as "the opportunity to be fully and meaningfully integrated into a typical learning environment. Inclusion also refers to an attitude of acceptance of, and belonging for, all students such that they feel valued as part of the school family." (education.alberta.ca)

An inclusive education system need to demonstrate universal acceptance of all students. inclusive education in Alberta means a value based approach to accepting responsibility for all students.It also means that all students will have equitable opportunity to be included in the typical learning environment or program of choice.

When students do have learning exceptionalities an Individualized Program Plan (IPP)  is created which is a concise plan of action designed to address students’ special education needs, and is based on diagnostic information which provides the basis for intervention strategies. (education.alberta.ca)
